Please join us for a discussion of The Radium Girls by Kate Moore.
The Radium Girls tells the true story of young women in the early 20th century who worked painting luminous watch dials with radium-based paint. Initially, the job seemed glamorous and well-paying, but the women were unknowingly exposed to dangerous levels of radiation that led to severe illness and death.
As their health declined, the women began to challenge the companies that employed them, despite facing denial, intimidation, and legal obstacles. Their fight for justice became a landmark moment in labor history, helping to establish stronger workplace safety standards and corporate accountability.
