Join us at the Quaker Street book club for a discussion of The Red Address Book by Sofia Lundberg.

The Red Address Book by Sofia Lundberg is a heartwarming and poignant story that explores themes of memory, friendship, love, and the passage of time. The novel centers on 96-year-old Doris, who has spent most of her life in Sweden. As she reflects on her past, she revisits the red address book her late father gave her when she was young. This address book is a record of important people and events from Doris’s life, and through it, readers learn about her journey—from her childhood in Sweden to her travels and experiences in the United States and beyond.

The narrative alternates between Doris’s present-day life and flashbacks, offering a glimpse into her relationships, the people she’s loved, and the moments that shaped her. Doris’s rich, diverse experiences unfold through her interactions with her family, her friends, and the love of her life, Henrik. The red address book serves as a metaphor for the connections she’s made and the memories that continue to influence her.

New book club members are always welcome. Request a copy of the books online or at any SCPL location.
