In partnership with the Town of Rotterdam, SCPL will be visiting parks around Rotterdam this Summer! Enjoy an outdoor story time with a breakfast snack and craft.

Toddler Time, we shake our sillies out, play with scarves, two books to read and play time.

Come check out our early literacy stations in the programming room, including a story time! We will have books previously selected for check out and a craft station every week! Activities and play stations will be different each week.

Join us to enjoy a storybook reading and create an art project based on our book of the day. Today we'll read Harold and the Purple Crayon and participate in a group art project.

Bring your baby and bounce along to songs, rhymes, and stories! Learn about early literacy resources and connect with other caregivers.

Nature is filled with colors! In this hands-on program, participants will use the pigments and natural colors found in grasses, flowers, berries, rocks, mud, and other natural materials to create their own artworks.

Enjoy working together, meeting new friends, and helping each other to begin and complete fiber arts projects.

In this class you will perform postures and breathing exercises with the aid of a chair. Students can experience the many benefits of yoga without having to get up or down from the floor.

Come make your own boardgame or play an existing game with a friend.  

Harness the power of the sun and create unique prints using natural items while learning about choosing environmentally-friendly project materials.

Do you love doodling or drawing or making art with friends?  Then you should come to the Draw-a-thon!

An art project-done your way!  Using cardboard letters and a variety of art supplies-including yarn, sharpies, pom poms, maps, scrapbooking paper, even book covers-you will create letters to decorate your favorite space.

Participants will work with an instructor from Art in Mind Studio to create a colorful Kaleidoscope Sun Catcher!  All materials provided.

For kids entering grades 1-5.

Have you ever wondered why animals look the way they do? Explore the fascinating world of the outdoors and where artists draw their inspiration from in this hands-on, interactive program.

For kids in grades K - 5.

A classic workshop where we make paper! Participants learn about the importance of recycling while making art. Participants will have access to seeds and flower petals to press into their paper to enhance its utility and beauty.

You’re invited to join us online with award-winning author Rex Ogle as he talks to viewers about his struggles to navigate sixth grade as written about in his book Free Lunch. 

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension, Schenectady County Public Library, and poet Ruth Ann Smalley for an evening of open-air poetry!

Join us for a fun building activities using a variety of materials, including Legos and more.  We supply the building materials, but projects stay at the library, so bring your camera.

Whether you’ve been doing it forever or just starting out, bring your written words to this volunteer run community group and receive feedback from fellow wordsmiths as time permits.

Give your brain a break! Join local artist, Tracy Loring, as she guides you through a process to create a unique abstract painting in watercolor. No previous painting experience needed. Registration is required. For Adults 18+.
