In partnership with the Town of Rotterdam, SCPL will be visiting parks around Rotterdam this Summer! Enjoy an outdoor story time with a breakfast snack and craft.

Come check out our early literacy stations in the programming room, including a story time! We will have books previously selected for check out and a craft station every week! Activities and play stations will be different each week.

The book, A Sky That Sings, by author and educator Anita Sanchez, is about a different way to experience nature.

Participants will work with an instructor from Art in Mind Studio to create a colorful Kaleidoscope Sun Catcher!  All materials provided.

Kids entering grades 1-5.  Registration required.

This project is inspired by Ghost River, a painting by artist Tyson Reeder. For the program, participants will create their own ghostly scenes, out of air-dry clay, and card stock.

Build in color at Build Zone.  Use your imagination to create a colorful build.  All building materials will remain in the library; don’t forget your camera!

Galaxies are made up of billions of stars and each star has a color. Join educator Dr. Mindy Townsend to learn about how many of each color star are usually found in galaxies and why our eyes might deceive us as we look at them.
 

With themed sensory bins, motor skills activities, and an open ended art project, this exploratory play time is designed for ages 2-5. Playtime is for parents/caregivers and their littles. Dress for mess.

Envision what you could see in a "busy tree"! Paint or use various art materials we will have on hand to create a scene inside your tree. For families with kids & teens.

Nebula are clouds of gas and dust that can either be leftover from a supernova explosion or the birthplace of stars. Astronomers study these objects by looking at the light produced by different elements.
