REELS at Scotia Spotlight Cinema Series

Welcome to a new REELS Spotlight Cinema Series at Scotia, where each series of films highlights a particular actor, director, or theme. This series spotlight shines on movies that are based on books that have been banned or challenged!. All movies will start at 3PM sharp in the Scotia Meeting Room, and snacks will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Only patrons 18+ will be admitted. No registration necessary. The screenings are as follows:

August 5th - Slaughterhouse-Five (R); based on novel of same name by Kurt Vonnegut

August 19th - A Wrinkle in Time (PG); based on novel of same name by Madeleine L'Engle

September 2nd - The Joy Luck Club (R); based on novel of same name by Amy Tan

September 16th - 1984 (R); based on novel of same name by George Orwell

September 30th - Bridge to Terabithia (PG); based on novel of same name by Katherine Paterson

October 14th - The Color Purple (PG-13); based on novel of same name by Alice Walker

October 28th - Like Water for Chocolate (R); based on novel of same name by Laura Esquivel

November 11th - NO MOVIE (Veterans Day)

November 25th - A Clockwork Orange (R); based on novel of same name by Anthony Burgess

December 9th - Smoke Signals (PG-13); based on novel The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie
